چکیده

The increased inhibiting action of serum with age on the growth of fibroblasts has been shown to be due to changes in both the lipoids and the proteins. Although the serum protein is less inhibiting than the serum lipoid, the rate at which their inhibiting action augments with age is approximately the same. The change in the serum protein with age is due to the disappearance of a small quantity of growth-stimulating substance, and also to an increase in concentration of inhibiting protein. The concentration of all protein fractions becomes larger as age advances. The greater inhibiting action of the lipoid is associated with a higher concentration of total lipoid and lecithin, and a smaller content of cholesterol as the animal grows older. The hypothesis is suggested that the inhibiting action of the serum is associated with its antienzymatic action.

Permeability of Capillaries to Plasma Lipoids.

It has been rather generally assumed, chiefly because normal urine is practically free from lipoids (9, 10, 11) that the capillaries are impermeable to plasma lipoids. However, no serious attempts seem to have been made to test this assumption, in spite of its important bearing on the question of plasma colloid osmotic pressure. In order to determine whether lipoids diffuse through the capillar...

The effect of resistance training intervention on serum levels of some anti-aging and rejuvenating proteins in older men

Introduction: exercise interventions can play an important role in delaying aging. Klotho protein and Growth Differentiation Factor 11 (GDF11) are a new family of biochemical theories of the aging process. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of 12 weeks of resistance training on serum levels of Klotho anti-aging proteins and rejuvenating of GDF11 factor in elderly men. Me...

Lipoids as the Growth-inhibiting Factor in Serum

The growth-inhibiting action of serum has been shown to be due largely to the lipoids. Serum from which the lipoids have been removed is much less inhibiting to the growth of fibroblasts in vitro than is the original serum, and only slightly more inhibiting than Tyrode solution. The lipoids extracted from the serum are toxic and more inhibiting to the growth of fibroblasts than the original ser...

Effect of water salinity on total protein and electrophoretic pattern of serum proteins of grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella

In this study the effects of water salinity on serum total protein and its components in grass carp were investigated. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of salinity tolerance of fish on total serum protein level and its components as an indicator of liver and kidney activity. One hundred and twenty grass carp were divided into four groups, randomly. The first three groups were r...

Lipoids as Inhibitors of Anaphylactic Shock

1. The antitryptic titer of the serum can be increased by subcutaneous injections of serum lipoids (antitrypsin) and of the lipoids from egg yolk. 2. Animals so injected show a relative immunity to acute anaphylactic shock (two minimum lethal doses). 3. Extraction of lipoids contained in antigens increases the toxicity of the antigen when injected into a sensitized animal. 4. Sublethal doses of...
